“Dr. Monsurat Adeseyi Adelakun is a renowned scholar and educator specializing in Home Economics Education and Human Development. Born on March 3, 1986, she has built a distinguished career in academia and research, currently serving as a Lecturer I at the Faculty of Vocational and Engineering Education, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.
Dr. Adelakun holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (2024). Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (2011), followed by a Master of Science in Home Science and Hospitality Management from Olabisi Onabanjo University (2015). She also obtained a Professional Diploma in Education in 2013 and became a registered member of the Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) in 2016.
Since joining Emmanuel Alayande University of Education in 2015, Dr. Adelakun has contributed significantly to the academic community. Her teaching repertoire includes courses such as Introduction to Foods, Principles of Home Management, and Fundamentals of Food Preparations. She has also supervised numerous undergraduate research projects, reflecting her commitment to mentoring the next generation of scholars.
Dr. Adelakun’s research interests span sustainable food preservation, family dynamics, child development, and the socio-economic determinants of well-being. Her scholarly work includes publications in reputable journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. Key topics of her research include teenage pregnancy, marital stability, and the implications of food security on family nutrition.
An active participant in academic and professional circles, Dr. Adelakun is a member of the Family and Consumer Sciences Society of Nigeria, the Home Economics Professional Association of Nigeria, and the Hospitality & Tourism Management Association of Nigeria. She has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences, contributing to the discourse on education, sustainability, and family well-being.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Adelakun is deeply engaged in community service. She has served as Secretary of the Ifedapo Community Landlord Association since 2017 and contributes to various institutional committees, including the Environmental Committee and the Departmental Finance Committee.
